INTERIOR DOOR PANEL RATTLE - ROUGH ROAD

ISSUE
Some 2013 Fusion and MKZ vehicles built on or before 1/8/2013 may exhibit a rattle noise from the interior door panel area over rough road surfaces. This noise can be isolated to the trim cover behind the interior door handle on any of the four doors.
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove door trim cover. (Figure 1)
a. Using a suitable tool, pull the front of the trim cover first to prevent damage.
b. If any of the four tabs are broken, replace the trim cover. Proceed to step 2.
2. From the Rotunda Squeak and Rattle Kit (part number 164-R4900) select one PVC soft foam tape strip (part number 164-R4901).
a. Cut a foam tape strip to a size of 10 mm (3/8") wide by 25.4 mm (1") long and apply it to the back side of the cover. (Figure 2)
3. Install door trim cover.
WARRANTY STATUS: Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage Warranty/ESP coverage limits/policies/prior approvals are not altered by a TSB. Warranty/ESP coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part and verified using the OASIS part coverage tool.
