C-Pillar Side Impact Sensor

Removal

1. WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

1. Side impact sensor (Service Part Number 14B004)
2. Side impact sensor electrical connector (Service Part Number W505256)
3. Side impact sensor bolt (part of 14401)
Torque: 11 Nm







WARNING: If a vehicle has been in a crash, inspect the restraints control module (RCM) and the impact sensor (if equipped) mounting areas for deformation. If damaged, restore the mounting areas to the original production configuration. A new RCM and sensors must be installed whether or not the air bags have deployed. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious personal injury or death in a crash.

1. WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Ignition must remain OFF until repair is complete. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.

If installing a new component for a SRS fault, continue to step 3. Otherwise, turn the ignition off, wait at least one minute and continue to step 4.

2. Depower the SRS.
Depower the SRS. Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering. Service and Repair

3. Remove the C-pillar trim panel.
Refer to: C-Pillar Lower Trim Panel.

4. Disconnect the side impact sensor electrical connector, remove the side impact sensor bolt and the side impact sensor.

Installation

1. NOTE: Make sure the C-pillar and side impact sensor mating surfaces are clean and free of foreign material.

Position the side impact sensor, install the side impact sensor bolt and connect the electrical connector. Torque: 11 Nm

2. Install the C-pillar trim panel.
Refer to: C-Pillar Lower Trim Panel.

3. If the SRS was depowered, repower the SRS.
