Passenger Airbag



Passenger Airbag

Removal

1. WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

1. Passenger air bag module (Service Part Number 044A74)
2. Passenger air bag module nuts (Service Part Number W709930)
Torque: 8 Nm

3. Passenger air bag module canister vent electrical connectors (part of 14401)
4. Passenger air bag module electrical connectors (part of 14401)
5. Passenger air bag module bracket nuts
Torque: 8 Nm

6. Passenger air bag module bracket bolts
Torque: 8 Nm

7. Passenger air bag module bracket (Service Part Number 58043B32)
8. Glove compartment screws (Service Part Number W714630)
9. Glove compartment (Service Part Number 5806024)
10. RH instrument panel side cover (Service Part Number 58044C60)







3. WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Ignition must remain OFF until repair is complete. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.

If installing a new component for a SRS fault, continue to Step 4. Otherwise, turn the ignition OFF, wait at least one minute and continue to Step 5.

4. Depower the SRS.

5. Position the front passenger door weatherstrip aside, pull out to release and remove the instrument panel cowl side trim panel.
6. Remove the 5 glove compartment screws, pull to release the clips and remove the glove compartment.
7. Remove 2 passenger air bag module nuts, 2 passenger air bag module bolts and the passenger air bag module bracket.

8. NOTICE: Do not pull the passenger air bag module electrical connectors out by the locking button. Damage to the locking buttons can occur.

Using a small screwdriver, lift and release the locking button on the passenger air bag module canister vent electrical connector and disconnect the electrical connector.







9. Using a small screwdriver, slide and release the locking button on each passenger air bag module electrical connector and disconnect the 2 electrical connectors.







10. Remove the 6 passenger air bag module nuts and the passenger air bag module.

Installation

1. Position the passenger air bag module to the instrument panel and install the 6 nuts.
Torque: 8 Nm

2. Position the passenger air bag module bracket and install the 2 nuts and 2 bolts.
Torque: 8 Nm

3. Connect the 3 electrical connectors and engage the locking buttons.
4. Position the glove compartment into the instrument panel, seat the clips and install the 5 glove compartment screws.
5. Install the instrument panel cowl side trim panel and reposition the weatherstrip.
6. If the SRS was depowered, repower the SRS.
