Attachment III - Technical Information

OVERVIEW

In some of the affected vehicles, the fuel filler assembly may incorrectly specify "E85" as a suitable fuel for the vehicle. These vehicles are designed to use only conventional (E0-E15) gasoline. The use of E85 fuel could cause damage to fuel components.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

Inspection and Repair

1. Open the fuel door and inspect the pad printing on the fuel filler insert:

- If printing states "Gasoline / E0-E15": Return the vehicle to the owner. No further repair is required.

- If printing states "E85 / Gasoline" and the fuel tank has not been filled with E85 gasoline:
Replace the fuel filler assembly. For additional information, refer to Workshop Manual (WSM) Section 310-01.

- If printing states "E85 / Gasoline" and the fuel tank has been filled (per the customer) with E85 gasoline: Drain the fuel tank, replace the fuel filler and fuel delivery module assemblies, and refill the fuel tank with E0-E15 gasoline. For additional information, refer to WSM Section 310-01.
