Transaxle Support Insulator




Transaxle Support Insulator - 3.5L GTDI

















Removal

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.

2. Remove the battery tray.

3. Remove the cowl panel grille.

4. Detach the vacuum hose clips from the strut tower brace.





5. Remove the 4 strut tower brace nuts and the strut tower brace.





6. Disconnect the 2 quick connect couplings and remove the crankcase vent tube.





7. Remove the engine cover mounting stud from the LH valve cover stud bolt.





8. Detach the wiring harness retainer from the valve cover stud bolt.





9. Remove the nut and the oil supply tube bracket from the LH valve cover stud bolt.





10. Remove the 4 bolts and position aside the LH exhaust manifold heat shield.





11. Remove the RH turbocharger-to-Charge Air Cooler (CAC) hose nut.





12. Disconnect the LH turbocharger bypass valve electrical connector and the turbocharger bypass valve hose.





13. NOTE: Index-mark the CAC (Charge Air Cooler) tube position for reference during installation.
Loosen the RH CAC (Charge Air Cooler) tube clamp, disconnect the tube and position aside.






14. Disconnect the turbocharger wastegate regulating valve electrical connector.





15. Install the Engine Lift Eye on the LH cylinder head and loosely install the 2 bolts.





16. Position the Engine Spreader Bar in the lift eyes and tighten the front 2 Engine Lift Eye bolts.





17. Install the Engine Support Bar and support the engine.





18. Remove the 2 lower transaxle support insulator bolts.





19. Remove the 2 upper transaxle support insulator bolts.





20. Remove the 3 transaxle support insulator bracket nuts and the transaxle support insulator bracket bolt and remove the transaxle support insulator assembly.





Installation

1. Clean the transaxle support insulator bolts using a wire brush and apply new threadlock to the threads.

2. Install the 2 upper transaxle support insulator bolts.
- Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).






3. Install the 2 lower transaxle support insulator bolts.
- Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).






4. Install the transaxle support insulator bracket and install the transaxle support insulator bracket bolt and the 3 transaxle support insulator bracket nuts.
- Tighten the transaxle support insulator bracket bolt to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft).

- Tighten the transaxle support insulator bracket nuts to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft).






5. Remove the Engine Support Bar.





6. Remove the 2 front Engine Lift Eye bolts and remove the Engine Spreader Bar and the front Engine Lift Eye.





7. Connect the turbocharger wastegate regulating valve electrical connector.





8. Position the RH CAC (Charge Air Cooler) tube, aligning the index marks made during removal and tighten the clamp.
- Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).






9. Connect the LH turbocharger bypass valve electrical connector and the turbocharger bypass valve hose.





10. Install the RH turbocharger-to-CAC (Charge Air Cooler) hose nut.
- Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).






11. Position the LH exhaust manifold heat shield in place and install the 4 bolts.
- Tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).






12. Install the oil supply tube bracket on the LH valve cover stud bolt and install the nut.
- Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).






13. Attach the wiring harness retainer to the valve cover stud bolt.





14. Install the engine cover mounting stud to the LH valve cover stud bolt.
- Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).






15. Install the crankcase vent tube and connect the 2 quick connect couplings.





16. Install the strut tower brace and the 4 nuts.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).






17. Attach the vacuum hose clips onto the strut tower brace.





18. Install the cowl panel grille.

19. Install the battery tray.
