Seat Belt Reminder Buzzer: Testing and Inspection

Belt-Minder(R) Deactivating/Activating

Preparation

1. Before deactivating/activating the Belt-Minder(R), set the parking brake.

2. Place the transaxle in PARK (P).

3. Turn the ignition OFF.

4. Unbuckle the driver safety belt.

Deactivating/Activating

NOTE: The Belt-Minder(R) cannot be deactivated using a MyKey(TM) programmed key. The Belt-Minder(R) can only be deactivated using an administrator key.
If the Belt-Minder(R) is already disabled, driving the vehicle with a MyKey(TM) programmed key overrides the deactivation, however, when the vehicle is subsequently operated using an administrator key, the Belt-Minder(R) once again reverts to the disabled state.

1. Turn the ignition ON (do not start the engine).

2. Wait until the safety belt warning indicator turns off (approximately 1 minute).

3. NOTE: Steps 3 and 4 must be completed within 30 seconds or the procedure must be repeated.
Buckle then unbuckle the safety belt 3 times, ending with the safety belt unbuckled. The safety belt warning indicator then illuminates for 3 seconds.

4. Within 10 seconds of the safety belt warning indicator illuminating, buckle then unbuckle the safety belt. This enables the Belt-Minder(R) if disabled, or disables the Belt-Minder(R) if enabled.

5. The safety belt warning indicator flashing 4 times per second for 3 seconds provides confirmation that the Belt-Minder(R) is disabled.

6. The following sequence of events confirms the Belt-Minder(R) is enabled:
- flashing of the safety belt warning indicator 4 times per second for 3 seconds

- 3 seconds with the safety belt warning indicator off

- flashing of the safety belt warning indicator 4 times per second for 3 seconds again

7. After confirmation, the deactivation/activation procedure is complete.
