Principles of Operation
NOTE: The Smart Junction Box (SJB) is also known as the Generic Electronic Module (GEM).
The Smart Junction Box (SJB) monitors the input from the stoplamp switch. When the brake pedal is applied, voltage is routed to the SJB (Smart Junction Box), the rear lamps and the high mounted stoplamp.
On vehicles equipped with adaptive cruise control, the voltage from the stoplamp switch is routed through a stoplamp relay before the stoplamps. This allows the adaptive cruise control system to activate the stoplamps.
