Pinpoint Test I: DTC U0155

Normal Operation

- DTC U0155 (Lost Communication With Instrument Panel Cluster (HEC) Control Module)- this DTC sets in the Smart Junction Box (SJB), if the vehicle speed or brake pedal position switch messages that should be received from the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) are missing for 10 seconds or longer.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster)

- SJB (Smart Junction Box)

PINPOINT TEST I : DTC U0155

I1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN

- Ignition ON.

- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.

Is an observable symptom present?

Yes
GO to I2.

No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

I2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: SJB (Smart Junction Box) Network Test.

- Carry out the network test.

Does the SJB (Smart Junction Box) pass the network test?

Yes
GO to I3.

No
REFER to Information Bus.

I3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE SJB (Smart Junction Box) AND IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TESTS

- Check for recorded SJB (Smart Junction Box) and IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) DTCs from the self-test.

Is DTC U3003:16 (or B1318) or DTC U3003:17 (or B1317) recorded?

Yes
For the SJB (Smart Junction Box), REFER to DTC Chart in Body Control Systems. Body Control Systems/ Body Control Module

For the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster), REFER to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.

No
GO to I4.

I4 CHECK FOR DTC U0155 SET IN OTHER MODULES

- Clear the DTCs.

- Ignition OFF.

- Ignition ON.

- Wait 10 seconds.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Self-Test.

- Retrieve the continuous memory DTCs from all modules.

Is DTC U0155:00 or DTC U0155 set in more than one module?

Yes
INSTALL a new IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster). TEST the system for normal operation. REPEAT the SJB (Smart Junction Box) self-test.

No
INSTALL a new SJB (Smart Junction Box). TEST the system for normal operation.
