Removal and Installation

NOTICE: Whenever turbocharger air intake system components are removed, always cover open ports to protect from debris. It is important that no foreign material enter the system. The turbocharger compressor vanes are susceptible to damage from even small particles. All components should be inspected and cleaned, if necessary, prior to installation or reassembly.

1. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to Cooling System Draining, Filling and Bleeding Service and Repair.

2. Remove the cooling fan motor and shroud. For additional information, refer to Cooling Fan Motor and Shroud- 3.5L GTDI .

3. Remove the front bumper cover.

4. Remove the noise generator.

5. Disconnect the Turbocharger Boost Pressure (TCBP) /Charge Air Cooler Temperature (CACT) sensor electrical connector.

6. NOTE: Index-mark the Charge Air Cooler (CAC) outlet pipe position for reference during installation.
Remove the CAC (Charge Air Cooler) outlet pipe.

- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).


7. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the radiator.

8. Disconnect the upper radiator hose and lower degas bottle hose from the radiator.

9. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.
Detach the 4 radiator grille air deflector pin-type retainers and remove the RH and LH radiator grille air deflectors.


10. Remove the 2 A/C condenser bolts from the CAC (Charge Air Cooler) and separate the A/C condenser from the CAC (Charge Air Cooler).
- To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).


11. NOTE: RH shown, LH similar.
Remove the 2 radiator support bracket bolts and position the radiator toward the engine.

- To install, tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).


12. Remove the 2 bolts and separate the CAC (Charge Air Cooler) from the radiator.
- To install, tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).


13. NOTE: Make sure the bottom radiator insulators are in place when installing the radiator.
Remove the radiator.


14. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
