Pinpoint Test D: DTC U210A:16 Or DTC U210A:17

Normal Operation

The Head Up Display (HUD) module is designed with a temperature sensor internal to the module. When the HUD (Head Up Display) module detects a fault condition in the temperature sensor circuit, such as an open or short to ground, the forward collision warning system is disabled and DTCs are set in the HUD (Head Up Display) module.

- DTC U210A:16 (Temperature Sensor Circuit: Below Threshold)- sets in continuous memory in the HUD (Head Up Display) module when the internal temperature sensor circuit is below the lowest valid temperature value. This is a short to ground on the temperature sensor circuit.

- DTC U210A:17 (Temperature Sensor Circuit: Above Threshold)- sets in continuous memory in the HUD (Head Up Display) module when the internal temperature sensor circuit is above the highest valid temperature value. This is a open on the temperature sensor circuit.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- HUD (Head Up Display) module

PINPOINT TEST D : DTC U210A:16 OR DTC U210A:17

D1 CHECK FOR HUD (Head Up Display) MODULE DTCs

- Turn the engine off.

- Ignition ON.

- Clear the HUD (Head Up Display) module continuous memory DTCs.

- Carry out the HUD (Head Up Display) module self-test.

Is DTC U210A:16 or DTC U210A:17 present?

Yes
GO to D2.

No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set previously due to an internal intermittent fault with the temperature sensor circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

D2 CHECK FOR CORRECT HUD (Head Up Display) MODULE OPERATION

- Disconnect the HUD (Head Up Display) module connector.

- Check for:
- corrosion

- damaged pins

- pushed-out pins


- Connect the HUD (Head Up Display) module connector and make sure it seats correctly.

- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new HUD (Head Up Display) module. REFER to Head Up Display (HUD) Module . TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
