Pinpoint Test A: The Alarm System Does Not Arm/Disarm From The Driver Door Lock Cylinder - Vehicles With Intelligent Access (IA)

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 117, Remote Keyless Entry and Alarm for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

When the Driver Door Module (DDM) detects the driver door lock cylinder RESET switch as active, it broadcasts a message via the Medium Speed Controller Area Network (MS-CAN) to the Smart Junction Box (SJB) and the SJB (Smart Junction Box) disarms the alarm.

When the DDM (Driver Door Module) detects the driver door lock cylinder SET switch as active, it broadcasts a message via the MS-CAN (Medium Speed Controller Area Network) to the SJB (Smart Junction Box) and the SJB (Smart Junction Box) arms the alarm.

- DTC B2112 (Door Driver Set Switch Stuck Failure)- set by the DDM (Driver Door Module) when it detects the driver door lock cylinder SET switch as active for greater than 2 minutes during normal operation, or for any duration during the self-test.

- DTC B2116 (Door Driver Reset Switch Stuck Failure)- set by the DDM (Driver Door Module) when it detects the driver door lock cylinder RESET switch as active for greater than 2 minutes during normal operation, or for any duration during the self-test.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors

- Driver door lock cylinder switch (part of the door latch)

- DDM (Driver Door Module)

- SJB (Smart Junction Box)

PINPOINT TEST A : THE ALARM SYSTEM DOES NOT ARM/DISARM FROM THE DRIVER DOOR LOCK CYLINDER - VEHICLES WITH IA (Intelligent Access)

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

A1 MONITOR THE DRIVER DOOR SET/RESET SWITCH STATUS PID (SR_SW_DD)

- Ignition ON.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: DDM (Driver Door Module) DataLogger.

- Insert the key into the driver door lock cylinder.

- Monitor the PID (SR_SW_DD) with the key in the unlock (RESET), lock (SET), and at-rest positions.

Does the PID agree with the key position?

Yes
GO to A7.

No
GO to A2.

A2 CHECK FOR DRIVER DOOR LOCK CYLINDER SWITCH DTCs

- Clear the DDM (Driver Door Module) DTCs.

- Ignition OFF.

- Wait 3 minutes.

- Ignition ON.

- Repeat the DDM (Driver Door Module) self-test.

Is DTC B2112 or DTC B2116 present?

Yes
GO to A3.

No
GO to A5.

A3 CHECK THE DRIVER DOOR LOCK CYLINDER SWITCH

- Clear the DDM (Driver Door Module) DTCs.

- Ignition OFF.

- Disconnect: Driver Door Latch C525.

- Wait 3 minutes.

- Ignition ON.

- Repeat the DDM (Driver Door Module) self-test.

Is DTC B2112 or DTC B2116 still present?

Yes
GO to A4.

No
INSTALL a new driver door latch. TEST the system for normal operation.

A4 CHECK THE SET/RESET CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

- Ignition OFF.

- Disconnect: DDM (Driver Door Module) C501A.

- For a concern with the RESET circuit, measure the resistance between the DDM (Driver Door Module) C501A-12, circuit CRT19 (GN/VT), harness side and ground.

- For a concern with the SET circuit, measure the resistance between the DDM (Driver Door Module) C501A-4, circuit CRT21 (BU/BN), harness side and ground.

Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?

Yes
GO to A6.

No
REPAIR the circuit. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.

A5 CHECK THE SET/RESET CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN

- Ignition OFF.

- Disconnect: Driver Door Latch C525.

- Disconnect: DDM (Driver Door Module) C501A.

- For a concern with the RESET circuit, measure the resistance between the DDM (Driver Door Module) C501A-12, circuit CRT19 (GN/VT), harness side and the driver door latch C525-1, circuit CRT19 (GN/VT), harness side; and between the DDM (Driver Door Module) C501A-12, circuit CRT19 (GN/VT), harness side and ground.

- For a concern with the SET circuit, measure the resistance between the DDM (Driver Door Module) C501A-4, circuit CRT21 (BU/BN), harness side and the driver door latch C525-2, circuit CRT21 (BU/BN), harness side; and between the DDM (Driver Door Module) C501A-4, circuit CRT21 (BU/BN), harness side and ground.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
GO to A6.

No
REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.

A6 CHECK FOR CORRECT DDM (Driver Door Module) OPERATION

- Ignition OFF.

- Connect: All Disconnected Connectors.

- Disconnect all the DDM (Driver Door Module) connectors.

- Check for:
- corrosion

- damaged pins

- pushed-out pins

- Connect all the DDM (Driver Door Module) connectors and make sure they seat correctly.

- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new DDM (Driver Door Module). TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR any DTCs present.

A7 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB (Smart Junction Box) OPERATION

- Ignition OFF.

- Disconnect all the SJB (Smart Junction Box) connectors.

- Check for:
- corrosion

- damaged pins

- pushed-out pins

- Connect all the SJB (Smart Junction Box) connectors and make sure they seat correctly.

- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new SJB (Smart Junction Box). TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
