Removal
NOTICE: Do not use oil or grease-based lubricants on the isolators. They may cause deterioration of the rubber.
NOTE: Exhaust fasteners are of a torque prevailing design. Use only new fasteners with the same part number as the original. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of exhaust components.
NOTE: Discard the ball clamp after removal.
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Loosen the ball clamp and separate the intermediate pipe from the muffler inlet.
3. NOTE: Lubricate the muffler assembly isolators with soapy water to ease in removal.
Release the muffler assembly rear isolator and slide the muffler assembly 2 hooks out of the front isolator.
- Remove the muffler assembly from the vehicle.
4. Remove and discard the ball clamp.
Installation
1. Position a new ball clamp on the muffler assembly.
2. NOTE: Lubricate the muffler assembly isolators with soapy water to ease in installation.
Slide the muffler assembly 2 hooks into the front isolator and then attach the rear isolator.
3. Tighten the new intermediate pipe-to-muffler inlet ball clamp.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
