Exhaust Manifold - RH
Exhaust Manifold - RH
Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
2. Remove the EGR tube.
3. Remove the catalytic converter.
4. Rotate the Supercharger (SC) drive belt tensioner clockwise and remove the drive belt from the SC (Supercharger) drive pulley.
5. Install the Engine Lifting Bracket.
6. NOTE: The heavy duty Engine Support Bar (303-F070) must be used with the draw screws from the light duty Engine Support Bar (303-F072). This will provide enough clearance between the SC (Supercharger) and the Engine Support Bar, and enough clearance between the draw screw and the vehicle hood.
Install the Engine Support Bars.
- Remove the RH engine support insulator nut.
- Using the Engine Support Bars, raise the RH side of the engine.
7. Remove the SC (Supercharger) drive belt from the A/C compressor pulley.
8. Remove the wiring harness retainers from the A/C compressor stud bolts and position the wiring harness aside.
9. NOTE: The A/C compressor stud bolts must be loosened to gain access to the RH exhaust manifold nuts.
Loosen the A/C compressor stud bolts 25 mm (0.98 in).
10. Remove the 8 nuts and the RH exhaust manifold.
- Discard the nuts and gaskets.
11. Clean and inspect the RH exhaust manifold.
12. Remove and discard the 8 RH exhaust manifold studs.
Installation
1. NOTICE: Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of old sealant.
Clean the exhaust manifold mating surface of the cylinder head with metal surface prep. Follow the directions on the packaging.
2. Install the 8 new RH exhaust manifold-to-cylinder head studs.
- Tighten to 12 Nm (106 lb-in).
3. Install new gaskets, the RH exhaust manifold and 8 new nuts.
- Tighten in the sequence shown to 20 Nm (177 lb-in).
4. Tighten the A/C compressor stud bolts to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
5. Install the wiring harness retainers onto the A/C compressor stud bolts.
6. Position the SC (Supercharger) drive belt onto the A/C compressor pulley.
7. Using the Engine Support Bars, lower the engine onto the engine support insulator.
8. Install the RH engine support insulator nut.
- Tighten to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft).
9. Rotate the SC (Supercharger) drive belt tensioner clockwise and install the drive belt onto the SC (Supercharger) drive pulley.
10. Install the catalytic converter.
11. Install the EGR tube.
