Washer System
When the rear washer switch is activated, the BCM (Body Control Module) receives a washer request from the SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module) over a private LIN (Local Interconnect Network). The BCM (Body Control Module) activates the rear washer relay, sending voltage to the washer pump motor. The washer pump motor then uses the front washer relay as a pass through to ground. The front washer relay is located inside the BCM (Body Control Module) and cannot be serviced separately from the BCM (Body Control Module).
Reverse Gear Wipe
When the front wiper/washer switch is in any position other than OFF (or moisture is detected on the windshield if equipped with rain sensitive wipers) and the rear wiper switch is in the OFF position, the rear window wiper activates automatically when the transmission selector lever is placed in the REVERSE position.
Rear Wiper Operation
The rear wiper system is ready for operation when the ignition is ON. The SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module) measures a voltage drop across the wiper/washer switch based on the wiper/washer switch position (OFF, LOW or INTERMITTENT). The SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module) sends a message to the BCM (Body Control Module) over a LIN (Local Interconnect Network) based on the measured voltage drop. The BCM (Body Control Module) then activates the rear wiper motor relay which sends a voltage input to the rear wiper motor. The rear wiper motor is self parking.
