Component Description

Wipers and Washers - Rear

Component Description

Rear Wiper Motor

The rear window wiper motor contains a logic module, an integrated relay and a single speed motor. The integrated relay is used to both operate and park the motor.

Wiper/Washer Switch

The wiper/washer switch is located on the RH (Right Hand) side of the steering column and is mounted directly to the SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module). The wiper/washer switch is a multiple position, multifunction switch that provides the rear window wiper/washer inputs to the SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module):

- OFF
- INT 1
- Low speed
- Rear wash

Washer Pump

The washer pump is a bi-directional motor used to deliver washer fluid to the rear window when activated. The front and rear washer system share the same washer reservoir and the same washer pump.

Body Control Module (BCM)

The BCM (Body Control Module) is mounted behind the glove box and both monitors and controls the front and rear wiper/washer systems. The BCM (Body Control Module) monitors all LIN (Local Interconnect Network) and all HS-CAN (High Speed Controller Area Network) messages that relate to the wiper/washer system and then directly controls the wiper motors and/or relays necessary for wiper/washer operation. The BCM (Body Control Module) is capable of setting DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) in the event of a circuit, component or network failure.
To operate correctly, the BCM (Body Control Module) must be configured with the correct vehicle information when installed new. REFER to Programmable Module Installation (PMI) .
