Window Motor Initialization

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, REFER to Safety Warnings . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

General Procedure

NOTE: Initialization is required to learn both the full UP and full DOWN positions and the profile of the glass as it travels through the glass channel. Once initialized, one-touch up/down functionality and obstacle detection is enabled.

NOTE: The initialization procedure must be carried out whenever:
- a new DDM (Driver Door Module), DRDM (Driver Rear Door Module), PDM (Passenger Door Module) or PRDM (Passenger Rear Door Module) is installed.
- a new window regulator or motor is installed.
- a new window glass is installed.
- a glass top run is removed and installed.
- carrying out any operation in which grease or lubricants are applied to the window system.
- battery voltage has been removed from the door module for more than approximately 20 minutes (for example, battery or door module disconnected).

NOTE: Before carrying out the initialization procedure, make sure all window components (window glass, window regulator, window motor, seals and glass top run) are installed and tightened to specifications.

1. Turn the ignition ON.

2. WARNING: Keep objects and body parts clear of the glass panel when carrying out the initialization procedure. During the initialization procedure, the glass panel closes with high force and cannot detect objects in its path. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

Activate and hold the window control switch in the UP position until the window glass stalls for 2 seconds into the glass top run and release the switch.

3. Activate and hold the window control switch in the UP position again for 2 seconds and release the switch.

4. Activate and hold the window control switch in the DOWN position until the window glass stalls for 2 seconds at the bottom of its travel and release the switch.

5. Test for correct window operation by carrying out the one-touch-up and one-touch-down features.
