Diagnostic Routine A
Diagnostic Routine A
Diagnostic Overview
All Power Windows are Inoperative
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 100 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The ignition relay provides the voltage for all power window operation as well as many other vehicle systems.
For vehicles equipped with manual rear windows, the front windows share the same fuse and common ground circuit (provided through the master window control switch).
For vehicles equipped with power rear windows, the front and rear windows operate from separate fuses and do not share a common ground circuit.
Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks
- If vehicle is equipped with manual rear windows, verify that BJB (Battery Junction Box) fuse 46 (25A) is OK.
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK THE MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH POWER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch C566A (with manual rear windows) or C504A (with power rear windows).
3. Ignition ON.
4. Measure:
Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?
2. CHECK THE MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Measure:
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
