Selector Mechanism

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, REFER to Safety Warnings . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

Exploded View










Removal

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to Lifting Points .

2. Remove the ACL (Air Cleaner) and outlet pipe assembly. REFER to Exploded View .

3. Remove the battery and battery tray. REFER to Battery and Battery Tray - Exploded View .

4. Install 303-290A , 303-290A-03A and 303-290-01.





5. Remove the 4 transmission support insulator nuts and the transmission support insulator bolt. Disconnect the wiring retainers and remove the transmission support insulator with the battery tray support bracket.






6. Remove the 3 transaxle support insulator bracket bolts and the transmission support insulator bracket.





7. Disconnect the gearshift cables from the selector mechanism.






8. NOTE: Make sure the transaxle is in the NEUTRAL position.

Remove the 6 selector mechanism bolts, disconnect the reverse lamp switch electrical connector and remove the selector mechanism.






Installation

1. Clean the mating surfaces of the selector mechanism and the transmission case. Apply a bead of sealant to the sealing surface of the transmission case.

2. NOTE: Make sure the transmission is in the NEUTRAL position.

Position the transmission in the NEUTRAL position. Install the selector mechanism and the 6 selector mechanism bolts. Connect the reverse lamp switch electrical connector.
- Tighten in a star pattern to 23 Nm (17 lb-ft).





3. Connect the gearshift cables to the selector mechanism.






4. Install the transmission support insulator bracket and the 3 transmission support insulator bracket bolts.
- Tighten to 86 Nm (63 lb-ft).





5. Install the transmission support insulator, the 4 transmission support insulator nuts and the transmission support insulator bolt. Connect the wiring retainer.
- Tighten the nuts to 86 Nm (63 lb-ft).
- Tighten the bolt to 150 Nm (111 lb-ft).





6. Install the battery tray and battery. REFER to Battery and Battery Tray - Exploded View .

7. Install the ACL (Air Cleaner) and outlet pipe assembly. REFER to Exploded View .
