Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to Lifting Points .
2. Remove the RH (Right Hand) wheel and tire. REFER to Wheel and Tire .
3. Remove and discard the wheel hub nut.
4. Remove and discard the ball joint nut and bolt.
5. Insert a pry bar in the lower arm body opening, separate the lower arm from the wheel knuckle and remove the ball joint heat shield.
6. NOTICE: Do not bend the inner joint more than 18 degrees and the outer joint more than 45 degrees. Damage to the halfshaft will occur.
Using 205-D070 (D93P-1175-B) , separate the RH (Right Hand) halfshaft from the wheel hub.
- Support the halfshaft assembly.
7. If equipped, remove the underbody insulator.
8. Remove the brake hose bracket bolt.
9. Remove and discard the 2 intermediate shaft bearing support strap nuts and the intermediate shaft bearing support strap.
10. Remove the RH (Right Hand) halfshaft assembly from the transmission.
Installation
1. If equipped with an automatic transmission, install a new halfshaft seal any time the halfshaft is removed from the transmission/transaxle or a leak may occur. REFER to Halfshaft Seal - RH .
2. Install the RH (Right Hand) halfshaft assembly into the transmission.
3. Install a new intermediate shaft bearing support strap and 2 new intermediate shaft bearing support strap nuts. Tighten in 3 stages.
- Stage 1: Tighten the lower nut to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
- Stage 2: Tighten the upper nut to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Stage 3: Tighten the lower nut to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
4. Using 204-161 (T97P-1175-A) , install the RH (Right Hand) halfshaft into the wheel hub.
5. NOTICE: Make sure the ball joint heat shield is installed on the ball joint stud or damage to the ball joint may occur.
Insert the ball joint stud into the wheel knuckle and install a new ball joint bolt and nut.
- Tighten to 83 Nm (61 lb-ft).
6. NOTICE: Do not tighten the wheel hub nut with the vehicle on the ground. Tighten the wheel hub nut to specification before lowering the vehicle. Wheel bearing damage occurs if the wheel bearing is loaded with the weight of the vehicle applied.
NOTICE: Install and tighten the new wheel hub nut to specification in a continuous rotation. Always install a new wheel hub nut after loosening or when not tightened to specification in a continuous rotation or damage to the components may occur.
NOTE: Apply the brake to keep the halfshaft from rotating.
Install a new wheel hub nut and tighten in 2 stages.
- Stage 1: Tighten to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft).
- Stage 2: Tighten an additional 90 degrees.
7. Install the brake hose bracket bolt.
- Tighten to 11 Nm (97 lb-in).
8. If equipped, install the underbody insulator.
- Tighten to 1.1 Nm (10 lb-in).
9. Install the RH (Right Hand) wheel and tire. REFER to Wheel and Tire .
10. Check and fill the transmission fluid level.
