Diagnostic Overview
Shift Fork Actuator - Mechanical Fault
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 29 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
There are two electric motors used to shift the gears in the transaxle, one for gears 1-3-5 and one for gears R-2-4-6. The gear shifting is made by two shift drums connected to shift motor pinion via two ideal gears. The maximum shift force is 1500N (337 lb). The motors are integrated in the TCM (Transmission Control Module) and work independently of each other.
Pinpoint Test
1. Read and record all DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).
Were Shift Fork DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) set?
2. Inspect the clock gears
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Remove the TCM (Transmission Control Module), REFER to Transmission Control Module (TCM) .
3. Inspect the 2 large and 2 small clock gears along with the clock gear pins.
Are the large or small clock gears damaged?
