Transmission Draining and Filling

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, REFER to Safety Warnings . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

General Procedure

1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to Lifting Points .

2. Remove the 8 retainers and the underbody insulator.





3. NOTE: Prior to removal, clean the area surrounding the fill plug.
Remove the fill plug.





4. Remove the drain plug and drain the fluid.





5. Install the drain plug.
- Tighten to 43 Nm (32 lb-ft).





6. NOTE: Do not overfill the transaxle. This will cause transaxle fluid to be forced out of the case.
Using an oil suction gun, fill the transaxle to the correct level with the specified fluid. Add transmission fluid until the oil runs out of the fill port in a continuous stream. The transaxle is full when the oil flow from the fill port has slowed to a broken stream or dripping.





7. NOTE: Use a ball head hex socket to torque to specifications.
Install the fill plug.
- Tighten to 43 Nm (32 lb-ft).





8. Install the underbody insulator and the 8 retainers.
