Differential Shim Selection

Special Tool(s)
General Procedure
1. NOTE: If the differential, differential bearings, clutch housing or transaxle case have been replaced this procedure must be performed.
Install the differential.
2. Using 205-153 (T80T-4000-W) and 307-678 , remove the differential bearing race from the clutch housing.
3. Remove the differential bearing shim.
4. Install the differential bearing race on the differential.
5. NOTE: Install 307-681 /2 at the transaxle dowel locations.
NOTE: Place 308-164 (T88C-77000-JF) around the differential area as shown.
Install 307-681 /2 and 308-164 (T88C-77000-JF) around the differential area.
6. Install 307-681 /1 on the differential.
7. Place the clutch housing on 307-681 /2 and 308-164 (T88C-77000-JF) and install the 6 307-681 /1 bolts, 4 shown.
- Tighten to 18 Nm (159 lb-in).
8. Turn the differential several times clockwise and counter-clockwise to make sure the differential turns freely and that the bearing is seated.
9. Turn 307-681 /1 as shown.
10. Loosen 307-681 /1 bolt.
11. Using a feeler gauge measure the clearance at points 1, 2 and 3 and record. Using the average of the recorded measurements, select the appropriate differential shim from the differential shim selection chart. For additional information, REFER to Automatic Transmission - DPS6 .
12. Remove 307-681 /1, 307-681 /2 and 308-164 (T88C-77000-JF).
13. Install the selected differential shim in the clutch housing.
14. Using 205-118 (T77F-4222-A) , 307-671 and 204-594 , install the differential bearing race.
