Ignition Coil: Service and Repair




Ignition Coil-On-Plug

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, REFER to Safety Warnings . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

Removal

1. If equipped, remove the engine cover.

2. NOTE: Used compressed air to remove any foreign material from the ignition coil-on-plug and surrounding area before removing the ignition coil-on-plug.
Disconnect the 4 ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors.

3. Remove the 4 ignition coil-on-plug bolts.

4. NOTE: When removing the ignition coil-on-plugs, a slight twisting motion will break the seal and ease removal.
Remove the 4 ignition coil-on-plugs.

Installation

1. Inspect the ignition coil boot for rips, nicks or tears. Remove and discard the damaged ignition coil boots.

- To install, slide the new ignition coil boot onto the ignition coil until it is fully seated at the top of the ignition coil.

2. NOTE: Apply a small amount of silicone brake caliper grease and dielectric compound to the inside of the ignition coil-on-plug boots before installation.
Install the 4 ignition coil-on-plugs.

3. Install the 4 ignition coil-on-plug bolts.
- Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).

4. Connect the 4 ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors.

5. If equipped, install the engine cover.
