Headlamp Bulb: Service and Repair




Headlamp Bulb

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, REFER to Safety Warnings . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

Removal

WARNING: The bulb contains gas under pressure. The bulb may shatter if the glass envelope is scratched or if the bulb is dropped. Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass envelope. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

NOTE: The headlamp bulb should not be removed from the headlamp until just before a new bulb is installed. Removing the bulb for an extended period of time may affect headlamp bulb performance. Contaminants may enter the headlamp where the can settle on the lens and reflector. Never turn on the headlamps with the bulb removed.

1. Remove the headlamp assembly. REFER to Headlamp Assembly .

2. Remove the headlamp bulb cover of the bulb being replaced.

3. NOTE: The high beam bulb is held in by the electrical connector.
Disconnect the headlamp bulb electrical connector.

4. Rotate the low beam headlamp bulb approximately one-eighth turn counterclockwise and remove it from the headlamp assembly.

Installation

WARNING: The bulb contains gas under pressure. The bulb may shatter if the glass envelope is scratched or if the bulb is dropped. Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass envelope. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.

1. Install the low beam headlamp bulb and rotate approximately one-eighth turn clockwise.

2. NOTE: The high beam bulb is held on by the electrical connector.
Connect the headlamp bulb electrical connector.

3. Install the headlamp bulb cover of the bulb being replaced.

4. Install the headlamp assembly. REFER to Headlamp Assembly .
