Diagnostic Overview
The Safety Belt Warning Indicator Is Never or Always On
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
REFER to Safety Belt Warning Indicator .
If the safety belt status message is missing or is deemed invalid, the BCM (Body Control Module) and the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) set DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0151:00. If the safety belt status message is missing, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) defaults the safety belt warning indicator off.
Pinpoint Test
1. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
2. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE RCM (Restraints Control Module) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the RCM (Restraints Control Module) self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
3. CHECK THE DRIVER SAFETY BELT BUCKLE SWITCH
1. Ignition ON.
2. Using a scan tool, monitor the RCM (Restraints Control Module) driver safety belt buckle PID (Parameter Identification) (SBELT_D_ST) while buckling and unbuckling the driver safety belt.
Does the PID (Parameter Identification) display BUCKLED with the safety belt buckled and UNBUCKLED with the safety belt unbuckled?
4. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE BCM (Body Control Module) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
5. CHECK THE SAFETY BELT WARNING INDICATOR USING THE DEALER TEST MODE
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Enter the Dealer Test Mode. REFER to Dealer Test Mode .
3. Scroll to LED test.
4. Monitor the safety belt warning indicator.
Does the safety belt warning indicator illuminate?
