Diagnostic Overview
A Hill Start Assist Display Is Never On
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
REFER to Hill Start Assist System Displays
If the hill start assist status messages are missing for less than 2 seconds, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) defaults the hill start assist message center display to its last state (on or off) based upon the last known good message received.
If the BCM (Body Control Module) does not receive the hill start assist status messages for 2 seconds or longer, the BCM (Body Control Module) and the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) set DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0121:00.
If the hill start assist status messages are missing, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) displays the hill start assist not available message in the message center.
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION
1. Close all doors.
2. Ignition ON.
3. Open the driver front door and observe the message center operation.
Does the message center display the driver door ajar message?
2. CHECK THE OPERATION HILL START ASSIST FUNCTION
1. Verify that the hill start assist function operates correctly.
Does the hill start assist function operate correctly?
3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.
Are any DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) recorded?
4. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) MODULE SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
5. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE BCM (Body Control Module) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
