Diagnostic Overview
An Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) or Engine Malfunction Display Is Always On
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
REFER to Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) or Engine Malfunction Displays .
If the engine MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) request message is missing for less than 2 seconds, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) defaults the engine malfunction message center display to its last state (on or off) based upon the last known good message received.
If the BCM (Body Control Module) does not receive the engine MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) request message for 2 seconds or longer, the BCM (Body Control Module) and the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) set DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0100:00.
If the engine MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) request message is missing, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) defaults the engine malfunction display on.
Pinpoint Test
1. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE PCM (Powertrain Control Module) KOEO (Key ON Engine OFF) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the PCM (Powertrain Control Module) KOEO (Key ON Engine OFF) self-test.
Are any PCM (Powertrain Control Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
2. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE BCM (Body Control Module) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
3. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.
Are any DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) recorded?
4. CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION
1. Close all doors.
2. Ignition ON.
3. Open the driver front door and observe the message center operation.
Does the message center display the driver door ajar message?
