Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

REFER to Dimmer Switch .

Pinpoint Test

1. COMPARE OPERATION OF NETWORKED AND NON-NETWORKED ILLUMINATION SOURCES

1. Ignition ON.

2. Place the headlamp switch in the PARKING LAMPS ON position.

3. Monitor the illumination level of a networked illumination source such as the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) backlighting.

4. Monitor the illumination level of a non-networked (hard-ired) illumination source such as an overhead lamp switch.

5. Press the instrument panel dimmer switch up and down.

Do both networked and non-networked illumination sources fail to increase/decrease in brightness?

2. CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (Body Control Module) OPERATION

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect and inspect all the BCM (Body Control Module) connectors.

3. Repair:

- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins- install new pins as necessary

4. Reconnect the BCM (Body Control Module) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?
