Valve Guide Seal: Service and Repair




Valve Seals

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, REFER to Safety Warnings . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

Removal

NOTICE: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan can cause engine failure.

1. Remove the valve spring from the valve being serviced. REFER to Valve Springs .

2. Remove and discard the valve seal.

1. Position the 303-468 (T94P-6510-AH) and 307-005 (T59L-100-B) over the seal.

2. Pull up on the 307-005 (T59L-100-B) and 303-468 (T94P-6510-AH) and remove the seal.






Installation

NOTICE: During engine repair procedures, cleanliness is extremely important. Any foreign material, including any material created while cleaning gasket surfaces, that enters the oil passages, coolant passages or the oil pan can cause engine failure.

1. NOTE: Lubricate the valve seal with clean engine oil prior to installing.
Using the 303-470 (T94P-6510-CH) , install the valve seal.





2. Install the valve spring onto the valve being serviced. REFER to Valve Springs .

3. Repeat the appropriate removal and installation steps for all of the other cylinders.
