Parking Brake Cable Adjustment - Disc Brakes

General Procedure
1. Vehicles without a parking brake control boot.
2. Vehicles without a parking brake control boot.
3. Vehicles with a parking brake control boot.
4. Vehicles with a parking brake control boot.
5. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. REFER to Lifting Points .
6. NOTE: Make sure the parking brake control is fully released.
NOTE: This step requires the aid of another technician.
Adjust the parking brake cable in 3 stages.
- Stage 1: Insert a 0.7 mm (0.028 in) wire-type feeler gauge between the parking brake lever and the brake caliper abutment on both sides.
- Stage 2: With the aid of another technician, tighten the parking brake cable adjustment nut until movement is observed on one of parking brake levers.
- Stage 3: Remove the feeler gauges.
7. Vehicles without a parking brake control boot.
- 2 Nm (18 lb-in)
8. Vehicles without a parking brake control boot.
9. Vehicles with a parking brake control boot.
- 2 Nm (18 lb-in)
10. Vehicles with a parking brake control boot.
