Diagnostic Overview

U0300:00

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 42 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

The ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module and the SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module) require correct vehicle configuration information to operate correctly. This information is programmed into the module when a new module is installed. The BCM (Body Control Module) is also programmed with the vehicle configuration information and shares this information with other modules over the HS-CAN (High Speed Controller Area Network). Incomplete or improper flash programming procedures, a loss of communication between the BCM (Body Control Module) and ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module or SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module), swapping modules between vehicles or an internal failure of one or more modules will cause a mis-match of vehicle configuration information between the modules.

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK THE ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) MODULE OR SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module) AND BCM (Body Control Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)

1. Ignition ON.

2. Using a scan tool, carry out the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module or SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module) self-test.

3. Using a scan tool, carry out the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.

Are there any communication or module internal failure DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) present in either of the modules?

2. PROGRAM THE ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) MODULE

1. Using a scan tool, program the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module using as-built data.

2. Ignition OFF.

3. Ignition ON.

4. Using a scan tool, carry out the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module self-test.

Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0300:00 present?

3. PROGRAM THE SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module)

1. Using a scan tool, program the SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module) using as-built data.

2. Ignition OFF.

3. Ignition ON.

4. Using a scan tool, carry out the SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module) self-test.

Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0300:00 present?

4. PROGRAM THE BCM (Body Control Module)

1. Using a scan tool, program the BCM (Body Control Module) using as-built data.

2. Ignition OFF.

3. Ignition ON.

4. Using a scan tool, carry out the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) module or SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module) self-test.

Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0300:00 present?

5. CHECK FOR CORRECT ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) MODULE OPERATION

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect and inspect the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) Module electrical connector.

3. Repair:

- corrosion (install new connector or terminal - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

4. Connect the ABS (Anti-Lock Brake System) Module electrical connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.

5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

6. CHECK FOR CORRECT SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module) OPERATION

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect and inspect the SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module) electrical connectors.

3. Repair:

- corrosion (install new connector or terminal - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

4. Connect the SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module) electrical connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?
