Diagnostic Overview

The Heated Seat is Inoperative or Does Not Operate Correctly - Driver

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 119 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

REFER to Heated Seats .

Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-Checks

Verify RJB (Rear Junction Box) fuse 34 (15A) is OK.

Pinpoint Test

NOTE: The SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) must be fully operational and free of faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer.

1. CHECK THE HEATED SEAT MODULE POWER CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.

Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect: Inline C300B:

- Disconnect the connector block on the seat track.
- Remove the (yellow) driver seat side air bag inline (C300B) from the rear of the connector block (seat side).
- Connect the connector block on the seat track. Tighten to 1 Nm (9 lb-in).

3. Disconnect: Driver Heated Seat Module.

4. Ignition ON.

5. Measure:

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

2. CHECK THE HEATED SEAT MODULE GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Measure:

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

3. CHECK FOR VOLTAGE TO THE SEAT HEATER SWITCH

1. Disconnect: Driver Seat Heater Switch.

2. Ignition ON.

3. Measure:

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

4. CHECK THE SEAT HEATER SWITCH RESISTANCE

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Measure the resistance of the driver seat heater switch in each position:

Is the resistance within the specified range for each control switch position?

5. CHECK THE SEAT HEATER SWITCH CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Measure:

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

6. CHECK THE RESISTANCE OF THE BACKREST HEATER MAT

1. Disconnect: Driver Backrest Heater Mat.

2. Measure:

3. Using the table, compare the measured resistance:

Is the resistance within specification?

7. CHECK FOR SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)

1. Connect: Driver Seat Heater Switch.

2. Connect: Driver Backrest Heater Mat.

3. Connect: Driver Heated Seat Module.

4. WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.

Ignition OFF.

5. Connect: Inline C300B:

- Disconnect the connector block on the seat track.
- Install the (yellow) driver seat side air bag inline (C300B) into the rear of the connector block (seat side).
- Connect the connector block on the seat track. Tighten to 1 Nm (9 lb-in).

6. Ignition ON.

7. Using a scan tool, clear the RCM (Restraints Control Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

8. Cycle the ignition OFF then ON.

9. Using a scan tool, perform RCM (Restraints Control Module) self-test.

Are any RCM (Restraints Control Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) retrieved during self-test?
