Roof Opening Panel
The roof opening panel is an electronically operated glass panel that can be opened, closed or vented by the roof opening panel control switch. The roof opening panel operates by using an integrated motor and module. Pressing the control switch supplies a ground to the motor/module. The control switch has 2 detent positions for opening and closing the roof opening panel. The first detent position allows for "manual" opening or closing of the panel. The operator determines how far to open or close the panel. The second detent position allows for "one-touch" or "express" opening or closing of the panel. The module determines how far to open or close the panel.
To manually open the roof opening panel, press and hold the rear portion of the control switch to the first detent position. Continue to hold the control switch until the panel reaches the desired position.
To one-touch or express open the roof opening panel, press and release the rear portion of the control switch to the second detent position. The roof opening panel first opens to the COMFORT position. The COMFORT position helps to alleviate any wind generated NVH (Noise, Vibration, or Harshness) concerns which may occur in the vehicle with the panel fully open. Once the roof opening panel has stopped at the COMFORT position, fully press and release the rear portion of the control switch again to the second detent position to fully open the panel. The roof opening panel movement can be stopped at any time by pressing the rear portion of the control switch while the panel is moving.
To manually close the roof opening panel, press and hold the front portion of the control switch to the first detent position. Continue to hold the control switch until the panel reaches the desired position.
To one-touch or express close the roof opening panel, fully press and release the front portion of the control switch to the second detent position. The roof opening panel closes automatically, movement can be stopped at any time by pressing the front portion of the control switch while the panel is moving.
To move the roof opening panel to the VENT position, the panel must first be in the fully CLOSED position. The VENT position can be achieved either manually or by one-touch, however, once in the VENT position, the panel can only be manually closed. To manually VENT the roof opening panel, press and hold the front portion of the control switch to the first detent position until the panel reaches the desired VENT position. To one-touch or express VENT the roof opening panel, press and release the front portion of the control switch to the second detent position. The roof opening panel will move to the VENT position automatically.
To close the roof opening panel from the VENT position, press and hold the rear portion of the control switch in the first or second detent position until the panel reaches the fully CLOSED position.
Bounce-Back
The roof opening panel has a bounce-back feature. If an obstacle has been detected in the path of the roof opening panel as the sliding glass is closing, the roof opening panel automatically opens and stops at a predetermined position.
Bounce-Back Override
To override a bounce-back condition (to overcome the resistance of ice on the roof opening panel seal for example), within 2 seconds of a bounce-back event, press and hold the front portion of the control switch. The closing force of the glass panel will begin to increase each time the roof opening panel is closed for the next 3 closing cycles. The bounce-back feature remains active during these 3 closing cycles.
Shade Assembly
The shade assembly is designed to open along with the roof opening panel except when the panel is opened to the VENT position. To open the shade assembly with the panel, operate the control switch for the position desired as described above. To open the shade assembly without opening the roof opening panel, slide the shade assembly toward the rear of the vehicle. Regardless of how it was opened the shade assembly can only be closed manually by sliding it toward the front of the vehicle.
