Diagnostic Overview

A Single Mirror Does Not Operate Correctly

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 124 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

REFER to Rear View Mirrors - Exterior, Power

Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks

- Inspect the exterior mirror control switch

- Inspect the exterior mirror

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK THE MIRROR MOVEMENT

1. Ignition: ON.

2. Operate the LH (Left Hand) exterior mirror in the up, down, left and right direction using the exterior mirror control switch.

3. Operate the RH (Right Hand) exterior mirror in the up, down, left and right direction using the exterior mirror control switch.

Does the LH (Left Hand) or RH (Right Hand) exterior mirror operate in any direction?






2. CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE LH (Left Hand) MIRROR CIRCUITS

1. Ignition: OFF.

2. Disconnect: LH (Left Hand) Exterior Mirror C521.

3. Ignition: ON.

4. Select the LH (Left Hand) exterior mirror on the exterior mirror control switch.

5. While operating the exterior mirror control switch in the right direction, measure:





6. While operating the exterior mirror control switch in the up direction, measure:





Are the voltages greater than 11 volts in the right and up position?






3. CHECK THE LH (Left Hand) MIRROR CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN

1. Ignition: OFF.

2. Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch C566B (without rear power windows).

3. Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch C504C (with rear power windows).

4. For vehicles without rear power windows, measure:





5. For vehicles with rear power windows, measure:





Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?






4. CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE RH (Right Hand) MIRROR CIRCUITS

1. Ignition: OFF.

2. Disconnect: RH (Right Hand) Exterior Mirror C626.

3. Ignition: ON.

4. Select the RH (Right Hand) exterior mirror on the exterior mirror control switch.

5. While operating the exterior mirror control switch in the right direction, measure:





6. While operating the exterior mirror control switch in the up direction, measure:





Are the voltages greater than 11 volts in the right and up position?






5. CHECK THE RH (Right Hand) MIRROR CONTROL CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN

1. Ignition: OFF.

2. Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch C566B (without rear power windows).

3. Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch C504C (with rear power windows).

4. For vehicles without rear power windows, measure:





5. For vehicles with rear power windows, measure:





Are the resistances less than 3 ohms?
