Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

The DDM (Driver Door Module) and PDM (Passenger Door Module) each have a hot at all times voltage supply. The modules monitor this voltage and also receive a battery voltage message from the BCM (Body Control Module).

If the voltage to the DDM (Driver Door Module) or PDM (Passenger Door Module) drops low enough, all door module functions can be inoperative.

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

Pinpoint Test

1. COMPARE THE BCM (Body Control Module) AND DOOR MODULE VOLTAGE PIDs (Parameter Identifications) (MOD_SUP_V) AND (IC_VPWR)

1. Ignition ON.

2. Using a scan tool, view BCM (Body Control Module) PID (Parameter Identification) MOD_SUP_V.

3. Using a scan tool, view DDM (Driver Door Module) or PDM (Passenger Door Module) PID (Parameter Identification) IC_VPWR.

Is the door module PID (Parameter Identification) within 0.5 volt of the BCM (Body Control Module) PID (Parameter Identification)?

2. CHECK THE DOOR MODULE VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect: DDM (Driver Door Module) C501A (if the DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) set in the DDM (Driver Door Module)).

3. Disconnect: PDM (Passenger Door Module) C652A (if the DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) set in the PDM (Passenger Door Module)).

4. Ignition ON.

5. Measure:

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

3. CHECK THE DOOR MODULE GROUND SUPPLY CIRCUIT

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Measure:

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

4. CHECK FOR CORRECT DOOR MODULE OPERATION

1. Disconnect and inspect all the door module connectors.

2. Repair:

- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

3. Connect the door module connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?
