Diagnostic Overview
B1087:83, 86, Or 88
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 117 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
The DRDM (Driver Rear Door Module) and PRDM (Passenger Rear Door Module) communicate with the DDM (Driver Door Module) and PDM (Passenger Door Module) over a dedicated LIN (Local Interconnect Network) for each module. The DDM (Driver Door Module) also receives information from the switch pack on the driver door on the LIN (Local Interconnect Network).
In the event of a failure on a LIN (Local Interconnect Network), the power windows, power locks and switch illumination will be inoperative in the rear door. If there is a LIN (Local Interconnect Network) failure for the DDM (Driver Door Module), the switch pack on the driver door will be inoperative.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
Pinpoint Test
1. VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
1. Ignition ON.
2. Operate all of the power door locks and power windows.
Are the power door locks and power windows inoperative?
2. CHECK THE MASTER WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
1. Disconnect: Master Window Control Switch.
2. Ignition ON.
3. Using a scan tool, clear the DDM (Driver Door Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).
4. Using a scan tool, perform the DDM (Driver Door Module) self-test.
Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B1087:83, B1087:86 or B1087:88 present?
3. CHECK THE LIN (Local Interconnect Network) FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: DDM (Driver Door Module) and DRDM (Driver Rear Door Module) (if the DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) set in the DDM (Driver Door Module)).
3. Disconnect: PDM (Passenger Door Module) and PRDM (Passenger Rear Door Module) (if the DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) set in the PDM (Passenger Door Module)).
4. Ignition ON.
5. Measure:
Is any voltage present?
4. CHECK THE LIN (Local Interconnect Network) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Measure:
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
5. CHECK THE LIN (Local Interconnect Network) FOR AN OPEN
1. Measure:
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
6. CHECK FOR CORRECT FRONT DOOR MODULE OPERATION
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect and inspect the DDM (Driver Door Module) or PDM (Passenger Door Module) connectors.
3. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connectors or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
4. Reconnect the DDM (Driver Door Module) or PDM (Passenger Door Module) connectors and make sure they seat and latch correctly.
5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
