Rear Subframe: Service and Repair




Subframe - Rear

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, REFER to Safety Warnings . Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

Removal

NOTICE: Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect the performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners may result in major service expense. Use the same or equivalent parts if replacement is necessary. Do not use a replacement part of lesser quality or substitute design. Tighten fasteners as specified.

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

1. Remove both rear springs. REFER to Spring .

2. Remove both rearward lower control arms. REFER to Lower Arm - Rear .

3. Remove the stabilizer bar. REFER to Stabilizer Bar .

4. Remove and discard both forward lower control arm inboard bolts.
- To install, tighten to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).





5. Remove and discard the upper control arm inboard bolts.
- To install, tighten to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).





6. Support the wheel knuckle and trailing arm assembly using a tie strap or other suitable holding device.

7. Using a suitable jackstand, support the exhaust system.

8. Detach the exhaust system from the crossmember exhaust hanger isolator.





9. Using a suitable jack, support the crossmember.

10. Remove the 6 crossmember bolts.
- To install, tighten to 115 Nm (85 lb-ft).





11. Lower the jack and remove the crossmember.

Installation

1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

2. Check and, if necessary, adjust the rear toe. REFER to Toe Adjustment - Rear .
