Diagnostic Routine P

Diagnostic Routine P

Diagnostic Overview

The Entire Audio System Is Inoperative

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

With the ignition in RUN or ACC, the audio system can be powered on. When the ON button is pressed on the FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module) (or the ignition is turned to RUN or ACC and the audio system was on when the ignition was turned off), a wake-up signal is provided to the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) via the dedicated LIN (Local Interconnect Network) line. The FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) then broadcasts a message over the I-CAN (Infotainment Controller Area Network) to the other modules in the audio system.

Pinpoint Test

1. CHECK FOR SCAN TOOL COMMUNICATION

1. Using a scan tool, perform the network test.

Do either the ACM (Audio Control Module) or the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) fail to communicate with the scan tool?

2. CHECK THE FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) POWER SWITCH INPUT PID (Parameter Identification)

1. Using a scan tool, view the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) PIDs (Parameter Identifications).

2. Monitor the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) power switch PID (Parameter Identification) (BTN_POWER) while pressing and releasing the power switch on the FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module).

Does the PID (Parameter Identification) display the correct the power switch positions?

3. CHECK FOR LOST COMMUNICATION DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)

1. Using a scan tool, clear the ACM (Audio Control Module) and FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) continuous DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

2. Ignition OFF.

3. Ignition ON.

4. Wait at least 10 seconds.

5. Repeat the ACM (Audio Control Module) and FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) self-tests.

Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0140:00 or U0257:00 present?

4. CHECK FOR CORRECT ACM (Audio Control Module) OPERATION

1. Disconnect and inspect all the ACM (Audio Control Module) connectors.

2. Repair:

- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

3. Reconnect the ACM (Audio Control Module) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?
