Diagnostic Routine M

Diagnostic Overview

U3003:16

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

DTC Fault Trigger Conditions

Pinpoint Test

1. RECHECK THE ACM (Audio Control Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)

1. Using a scan tool, clear the ACM (Audio Control Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

2. Ignition OFF.

3. Ignition ON.

4. Wait 10 seconds.

5. Repeat the ACM (Audio Control Module) self-test.

Is DTC U3003:16 still present?

2. CHECK FOR CHARGING SYSTEM DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) IN THE PCM (Powertrain Control Module)

1. Using a scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) from all modules.

Are any voltage-related DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) set in the PCM (Powertrain Control Module)?

3. CHECK THE BATTERY CONDITION AND STATE OF CHARGE

1. Check the battery condition and verify that the battery is fully charged. REFER to Diagnostic Routine A: Battery Condition Test Pinpoint Tests.

Is the battery OK and fully charged?

4. CHECK THE ACM (Audio Control Module) VOLTAGE SUPPLY

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Measure and record the voltage at the battery.

3. Disconnect: ACM (Audio Control Module) C240A.

4. Ignition ON.

5. Measure:

Is the voltage within 0.2 volt of the recorded battery voltage?

5. CHECK THE ACM (Audio Control Module) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR CONTINUITY

1. Measure:

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

6. CHECK FOR CORRECT ACM (Audio Control Module) OPERATION

1. Disconnect and inspect all the ACM (Audio Control Module) connectors.

2. Repair:

- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary

3. Reconnect the ACM (Audio Control Module) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?
