Pinpoint Test
1. VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN
1. Ignition ON.
2. Verify that there is an observable symptom present.
Is an observable symptom present?
2. CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK
1. Ignition ON.
2. Using a scan tool, perform network test.
Does the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) pass the network test?
3. RECHECK THE IPM-B (Image Processing Module - B) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)
1. Using a scan tool, clear DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).
2. Operate the system and test the system for normal operation.
3. Using a scan tool, repeat IPM-B (Image Processing Module - B) self-test.
Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0155:87 still present?
4. CHECK FOR BATTERY VOLTAGE OUT OF RANGE DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)
1. Using a scan tool, retrieve continuous memory DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) from all modules.
Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U3006:16 or U3006:17 set in the IPM-B (Image Processing Module - B)?
5. CHECK FOR DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0155:00 OR DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0155:87 IN OTHER MODULES
1. Using a scan tool, clear all DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).
2. Ignition OFF.
3. Wait 10 seconds.
4. Using a scan tool, perform self-test.
5. Using a scan tool, retrieve continuous memory DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) from all modules.
Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0155:00 or DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0155:87 set in any module?
6. CHECK FOR CORRECT IPM-B (Image Processing Module - B) OPERATION
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect and inspect all IPM-B (Image Processing Module - B) connectors.
3. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins- install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins- install new pins as necessary
4. Reconnect the IPM-B (Image Processing Module - B) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
