The Rear Video Is Inoperative

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 131 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

REFER to Image Display .

Pinpoint Test

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

1. CHECK THE DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE IPM-B (Image Processing Module - B) AND APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) SELF-TEST

1. Using a scan tool, perform IPM-B (Image Processing Module - B) and APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) self-test.

2. Check the IPM-B (Image Processing Module - B) and APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) from the self-test.

Are any IPM-B (Image Processing Module - B) or APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) retrieved?

2. CHECK AND CLEAN THE REAR VIDEO CAMERA LENS

1. Clean and make sure the rear video camera lens is clear of any debris.

2. Test the video camera system and verify the video camera image.

Is the video camera concern still present?

3. CHECK THE REVERSING LAMPS OPERATION

1. Check the operation of the reversing lamps.

Do the reversing lamps operate correctly?

4. CHECK THE FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) DISPLAY

1. Observe the FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) while placing the vehicle in reverse.

2. Wait 30 seconds.

Does the FDIM (Front Display Interface Module) screen switch to video camera mode and display" Rear Video Camera is Unavailable Please Contact Your Dealership"?

5. CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA VOLTAGE SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect: Video Camera.

3. Ignition ON.

4. Measure:

Is the voltage greater than 11 volts?

6. CHECK THE IPM-B (Image Processing Module - B) FOR AN INTERNAL FAULT

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Measure:

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

7. CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

1. Disconnect: APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module).

2. Measure:

Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?

8. CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VIDEO SHIELD

1. Measure:

Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?

9. CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

1. Ignition ON.

2. Measure:

Is any voltage present?

10. CHECK VIDEO SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Connect a fused jumper wire:

3. Measure:

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

11. CHECK VIDEO (+) SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Measure:

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

12. CHECK THE LIN (Local Interconnect Network) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect Video Camera.

3. Disconnect IPM-B (Image Processing Module - B).

4. Measure:

Is resistance less than 3 ohms?

13. CHECK THE LIN (Local Interconnect Network) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Measure:

Is resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?

14. CHECK THE LIN (Local Interconnect Network) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO VOLTAGE

1. Ignition ON.

2. Measure:

Is any voltage present?

15. CHECK FOR CORRECT VIDEO CAMERA OPERATION

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect and inspect the video camera connector.

3. Repair:

- corrosion (install connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins- replace terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins- replace pins as necessary

4. Reconnect the video camera connector. Make sure it seats correctly.

5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

16. CHECK FOR CORRECT IPM-B (Image Processing Module - B) OPERATION

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect and inspect the IPM-B (Image Processing Module - B) connectors.

3. Repair:

- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins- install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins- install new pins as necessary

4. Reconnect the IPM-B (Image Processing Module - B) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.

5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?
