Removal

WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure, Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

1. Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).

1. Side impact sensor screws (Service Part Number W705314)
Torque: 2 Nm

2. Side impact sensor (Service Part Number 14B345)
3. Insert nuts (Service Part Number W710564)
4. Side impact sensor electrical connector (Service Part Number Part of 14K138 RH/14A584 LH)







3. WARNING: Turn the ignition OFF and wait one minute to deplete the backup power supply. Ignition must remain OFF until repair is complete. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury or death in the event of an accidental deployment.

If installing a new component for a SRS fault, continue to step 3. Otherwise, turn the ignition off, wait at least one minute and continue to step 4.

4. NOTE: The air bag warning indicator illuminates when the correct RCM fuse is removed and the ignition is on.

Depower the SRS.
Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering (501-20B Supplemental Restraint System, General Procedures).

5. Remove the front door trim panel.
Refer to: Front Door Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).

6. Pull back the weathershield.
7. Slide the locking wedge down to disengage, disconnect the side impact sensor electrical connector, remove the 2 side impact sensor screws and the side impact sensor.

Installation

1. NOTE: Make sure the door and side impact sensor mating surfaces are clean and free of foreign material.

Position the side impact sensor, install the side impact sensor screws, connect the electrical connector and slide the locking wedge back.
Torque: 2 Nm

2. Reposition the weathershield.
3. Install the front door trim panel.
Refer to: Front Door Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).

4. If the SRS was depowered, repower the SRS.
Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering (501-20B Supplemental Restraint System, General Procedures).
