MANUAL TRANSAXLE DISENGAGES FROM
REVERSE GEAR AT HIGH TIP-IN RPM

2011-2012 Fiesta
This article supersedes TSB 11-10-20 to remove the production fix date and update the vehicle model years.
ISSUE
Some 2011-2012 Fiesta vehicles equipped with manual transaxle may exhibit a transmission disengagement from reverse gear on high tip-in RPM (2500-3000 RPM).
ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Remove the transaxle. Refer to Workshop Manual (WSM), Section 308-03.
2. Disassemble transaxle down to input/output shaft removal. Remove and discard the reverse idler gear. Refer to WSM, Section 308-03.
3. Disassemble the output shaft down to 1st/2nd gear synchronizer. Refer to WSM, Section 308-03.
4. Remove and discard 1st/2nd gear synchronizer.
5. Install new 1st/2nd gear synchronizer.
6. Reassemble output shaft.
7. Install new reverse idler gear.
8. Reassemble transaxle.
9. Reinstall transaxle.
