Transaxle Support Insulator - 3.5L
Removal
1. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) assembly and outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
2. Remove the battery tray. For additional information, refer to Battery.
3. Remove the Y-pipe assembly. For additional information, refer to Exhaust System &/or Catalytic Converter.
4. Loosen the engine roll restrictor-to-subframe through bolt.
5. Remove the 2 bolts from the roll restrictor bracket.
6. NOTICE: The Oil Pan Holding Fixture must be carefully aligned to the mounting bosses on the oil pan. Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to the oil pan.
Position a floor jack and the Oil Pan Holding Fixture under the oil pan and raise the floor jack high enough to release the pressure on the transaxle support insulator.
7. Remove the transaxle support insulator through bolt.
1. Remove the flagnut.
2. Using the floor jack and Oil Pan Holding Fixture, release the tension from the transaxle support insulator through bolt to remove it from the transaxle mount.
8. Lower the transaxle from the mount about 50.8 mm (2 in).
9. Remove the nuts, the bolt and the transaxle support insulator bracket.
10. Remove the top transaxle support insulator bolts.
11. Remove the bottom transaxle support insulator bolts and remove the transaxle support insulator.
Installation
1. Clean the transaxle support insulator bolts using a wire brush and apply new threadlock to the threads.
2. Install the bottom transaxle support insulator bolts.
- Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).
3. Install the top transaxle support insulator bolts.
- Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).
4. Install the transaxle support insulator bracket, the nuts and the bolt.
- Tighten the bolt to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft).
- Tighten the nuts to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft).
5. Using the floor jack and Oil Pan Holding Fixture, raise the transaxle and install the transaxle support insulator through bolt.
- Tighten to 175 Nm (129 lb-ft).
6. Remove the floor jack and the Oil Pan Holding Fixture.
7. Install the battery tray. For additional information, refer to Battery.
8. Install the ACL assembly and outlet pipe. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
9. Position the roll restrictor in place and install the roll restrictor bolts.
- Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).
10. Tighten the engine roll restrictor-to-subframe through bolt.
- Tighten to 90 Nm (66 lb-ft).
11. Install the exhaust Y-pipe assembly. For additional information, refer to Exhaust System &/or Catalytic Converter.
