Transaxle Support Insulator - 3.5L GTDI
Removal
1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to Vehicle Jacking and Lifting.
2. Remove the battery tray. For additional information, refer to Battery.
3. Remove the cowl panel grille.
4. Remove the 4 nuts and the strut tower brace.
5. Disconnect the 2 quick connect couplings and remove the crankcase vent tube.
6. Remove the engine cover mounting stud from the LH valve cover stud bolt.
7. Detach the wiring harness retainer from the valve cover stud bolt.
8. Remove the nut and the oil supply tube bracket from the LH valve cover stud bolt.
9. Remove the 4 bolts and position aside the LH exhaust manifold heat shield.
10. Remove the RH turbocharger-to-Charge Air Cooler (CAC) hose nut.
11. NOTE: Index-mark the CAC tube position for reference during installation.
Loosen the RH turbocharger-to-CAC hose clamp at the turbocharger and position the hose aside.
12. Install the Engine Lift Eye on the LH cylinder head and loosely install the 2 bolts.
13. Position the Engine Spreader Bar in the lift eyes and tighten the front 2 Engine Lift Eye bolts.
14. Install the Engine Support Bar and support the engine.
15. Remove the 2 lower transaxle support insulator bolts.
16. Remove the 2 upper transaxle support insulator bolts.
17. Remove the 3 nuts and the bolt and remove the transaxle support insulator assembly.
Installation
1. Clean the transaxle support insulator bolts using a wire brush and apply new threadlock to the threads.
2. Install the 2 upper transaxle support insulator bolts.
- Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).
3. Install the 2 lower transaxle support insulator bolts.
- Tighten to 55 Nm (41 lb-ft).
4. Install the transaxle support insulator bracket and install the bolt and the 3 nuts.
- Tighten the bolt to 80 Nm (59 lb-ft).
- Tighten the nuts to 63 Nm (46 lb-ft).
5. Remove the Engine Support Bar.
6. Remove the 2 front Engine Lift Eye bolts and remove the Engine Spreader Bar and the front Engine Lift Eye.
7. Position the RH turbocharger-to-CAC hose on the RH turbocharger and tighten the clamp.
- Tighten to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
8. Install the RH turbocharger-to-CAC hose nut.
- Tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb-in).
9. Position the LH exhaust manifold heat shield in place and install the 4 bolts.
- Tighten to 15 Nm (133 lb-in).
10. Install the oil supply tube bracket on the LH valve cover stud bolt and install the nut.
- Tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
11. Attach the wiring harness retainer to the valve cover stud bolt.
12. Install the engine cover mounting stud to the LH valve cover stud bolt.
- Tighten to 6 Nm (53 lb-in).
13. Install the crankcase vent tube and connect the 2 quick connect couplings.
14. Install the strut tower brace and the 4 nuts.
- Tighten to 30 Nm (22 lb-ft).
15. Install the cowl panel grille.
16. Install the battery tray. For additional information, refer to Battery.
