INTERMITTENT STEERING DRIFT/PULL - BUILT ON
OR BEFORE 6/11/2010
FORD:
2010 Taurus, Flex
LINCOLN:
2010 MKS, MKT
This article supersedes TSB 11-11-9 to update the Integrated Diagnostic System (IDS) calibration.
ISSUE
Some 2010 Taurus, MKS, Flex and MKT vehicles built on or before 6/11/2010 and equipped with a 3.5L gasoline turbo direct injection (GTDI) engine may exhibit an intermittent steering pull/drift left or right. A customer may describe the condition as one where they believe the vehicle needs a front end alignment.
ACTION
Reprogram the power steering control module (PSCM) to the latest calibration using IDS release 75.04 and higher. This new calibration is not included in the VCM 2011.9 DVD. Calibration files may also be obtained at the website.
While reprogramming the PSCM the IDS may automatically reprogram the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module. As a result, during the PSCM programming procedure, you may see screens indicating the ABS is being programmed in addition to the PSCM.
If the vehicle has a constant pull and/or drift left or right, do not continue with this article. Refer to the Workshop Manual, (WSM) Section 204-00 for normal diagnostics.
