Pinpoint Tests

Pinpoint Test K: DTC B10D7:05

Normal Operation
- DTC B10D7:05 (PATS Key: System Programming Failures) - a continuous memory DTC that sets during the
Intelligent Access (IA) key programming procedure if the scan tool, the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module or one of the keys fail. DTC B10D7:05 sets and the vehicle experiences a Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) no-start.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Backup transceiver
- IA key programming concern
- IA key concern (transponder)

PINPOINT TEST K: DTC B10D7:05

NOTE: The ignition must be OFF to carry out the RFA module self-test.

-------------------------------------------------
K1 CHECK BOTH PATS IA KEYS

NOTE: Check to make sure the new IA keys are approved Ford encoded IA keys. Unapproved IA keys do not always operate correctly over various temperature ranges. (IA keys from Ford, Rotunda, Strattec or Huf are approved Ford IA keys.)

- If it is necessary to obtain a new IA key, program the new IA key. Refer to Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment - Intelligent Access (IA) With Intelligent Access (IA).

- NOTE: Follow this procedure using both IA keys.
- Clear the RFA module DTCs.
- Retrieve the RFA module DTCs.
- Is DTC B10D7:05 present with both keys?

Yes
If DTC B10D7:05 is present for both keys, INSTALL a new backup transceiver. REFER to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Transceiver [1][2]Anti-Theft - Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) - Backup Transceiver. PROGRAM the keys. REFER to Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment - Intelligent Access (IA) With Intelligent Access (IA). CLEAR the DTCs. CYCLE the ignition. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
If DTC B10D7:05 is present for only one key, replace that key. DISCARD the damaged key. PROGRAM the keys. REFER to Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment - Intelligent Access (IA) With Intelligent Access (IA). CLEAR the DTCs. CYCLE the ignition. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.

If no DTCs are retrieved, the system is OK. TEST the system for normal operation.
