Headlamp Bulb
NOTE: Halogen bulb shown.
Removal and Installation
WARNING: The bulb contains gas under pressure. The bulb may shatter if the glass envelope is scratched or if the bulb is dropped. Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass envelope. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
NOTE: The headlamp bulb should not be removed from the headlamp until just before a new bulb is installed. Removing the bulb for an extended period of time can affect headlamp bulb performance. Contaminants can enter the headlamp where they can settle on the lens and reflector. Never turn on the headlamps with the bulb removed from the headlamp.
NOTE: Make sure the headlamp switch and the ignition switch are in the OFF position.
LH headlamp bulb
1. Remove the air cleaner. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.
Halogen bulb
2. Disconnect the headlamp bulb electrical connector.
3. Rotate the headlamp bulb approximately one-eighth turn counterclockwise and remove the bulb from the headlamp assembly.
High Intensity Discharge (HID) bulb
4. Remove the HID bulb access cover.
5. Rotate the locking tabs counterclockwise to release the bulb.
6. NOTE: The HID bulb is retained by spring tension on all 4 sides of the bulb base.
Remove the headlamp bulb by pulling it straight back.
- Disconnect the electrical connector.
All bulb types
7. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- For vehicles equipped with HID headlamps, make sure the bulb cover is fully seated.
