Electronic Brake Control Module: Service and Repair




Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) Module













Removal and Installation

NOTICE: Electronic modules are sensitive to electrical charges. The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) module can be damaged if exposed to these charges.

1. NOTE: This step is necessary only if a new ABS module is being installed on a vehicle equipped with a 4.6L engine.

Connect the scan tool and upload the module configuration information from the ABS module.

2. Remove the Air Cleaner (ACL) assembly. For additional information, refer to Fuel Delivery and Air Induction.

3. Disconnect the ABS module electrical connector.

4. Remove the 4 screws and the ABS module.
- To install, tighten to 3 Nm (27 lb-in) in the sequence shown.





5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

6. If a new ABS module was installed, carry out these steps in the following sequence.

1. For vehicles equipped with a 4.6L engine, download the module configuration information from the scan tool. For additional information, refer to Information Bus.

2. Using the scan tool, carry out the IVD Initialization sequence.
