TICK/POP/SNAPPING/BUZZ NOISE FROM DOOR
PANEL WHEN OPERATING AUDIO SYSTEM -
VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE 5/1/2009

FORD:
2010 Mustang

ISSUE
Some 2010 Mustang vehicles built before 5/1/2009 may exhibit a tick/pop/snapping/buzz noise when using the audio system at high volumes, bass levels, or voice broadcasts. A small piece of casting flash on the lower map pocket contacting the door panel is the source of the noise.

ACTION
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

SERVICE PROCEDURE

1. Obtain a piece of soft PVC foam (164-R4901) from the Rotunda Squeak and Rattle Repair Kit (164-R4900)

2. Cut a 1/2" (12.7 mm) wide strip of soft PVC foam lengthwise.





3. Using a Trim Stick or suitable tool gently push the 1/2" (12.7 mm) wide strip of soft PVC foam between the lower edge of the map pocket and door panel. Center the PVC foam under the door grab handle. (Figure 1)
